Grief and trauma-informed COACHING

(Re)discover who you are. Release what’s holding you back.

I help people navigate and normalise their trauma and grief so they can heal with confidence, self-love, and authenticity.

Healing happens in layers and I’ll support you in adapting to and growing through your trauma and grief – whichever path and pace feels right for you – and beyond.

Growth and happiness should be defined on your own terms, and we’ll work together to identify what that means for you.

We’ll explore beneath the surface – top-down/ bottom-up – to see what’s happening mentally and interoceptively (your inner, embodied state) as well as outside-in, where we’ll look at the impact of external factors. Depending on our area(s) of focus, we may work on a myriad of areas including, but not limited to:

  • Nervous system regulation;

  • Motivation and productivity;

  • Elevating self-awareness;

  • Developing and maintaining self-esteem and confidence;

  • Somatic healing, e.g. breath, voice, movement, sensations, emotions, feelings;

  • Cultivating a strong sense of self (identity);

  • Exploring core values, attitudes, beliefs and wounds;

  • Managing stress, depression, and anxiety;

  • Identifying, setting and maintaining boundaries;

  • Inner dialogue / inner child work;

  • Identifying and honouring needs and desires;

  • Noticing the impact of attachment styles;

  • Exploring the impact of environmental and social factors;

  • Healthy inner-resourcing for safety and nourishment.

The series of coaching sessions with Rebecca-Monique exceeded all my expectations. Rebecca-Monique created sessions that were the perfect blend of challenging, enlightening, really empowering, but also fun. More than anything, I really appreciated Rebecca-Monique’s care and encouragement, her infectious energy, and the obvious time that she had put in to the preparation of all the sessions.
— SM
Rebecca-Monique’s cool, level-headed approach gave rise to me feeling relaxed and held throughout our sessions. Her insight and observations were fluid and controlled, with the ability to recognise old patterns and give room to new ways of self-awareness...Her compassion and understanding drives the sessions, and you always leave feeling listened to. Most importantly, you take away tools that help change your life.
— SN

Rebecca-Monique had a unique way of delicately guiding me through my self-reflection journey and hand-picking timely exercises to deepen my introspection, which brought about many ah-ha moments. She is very thoughtful with her words and knowledgeable within her field.
— SB
Rebecca-Monique was able to provide useful insights into how I was feeling and shared her expertise in a clear and supportive manner. She was very respectful of boundaries and facilitated a safe space where I felt in control of the direction of the conversation.

Although my work is not therapy, nor am I a therapist, coaching with me is therapeutic. My work can be categorised as ‘complementary therapy’ or ‘adjunctive therapy’.

Understanding Trauma and Grief: A (VERY) Brief Summary

 Trauma is not an event.

It is something we experience physically and mentally that becomes trapped within us; affecting our nervous system and body chemistry – therapy helps ‘treat’ the effects of trauma.

But we are not our trauma – coaching can help us develop the wherewithal to sustaining long-term changes and growth conducive to our healing. Coaching helps to firmly ground us in the here and now, and provide agency during healing and recovery. It encourages active self problem-solving through heightened awareness of thinking and feeling states.

Racial trauma is a form of race-based stress experienced by Black, Indigenous People of Colour (BIPoC) that include reactions to dangerous events, and real or perceived experiences of racial discrimination.

Experiences of racial trauma may include threats of harm, humiliating and shaming events, as well as second-hand (witnessing) racial trauma.

This is very specialised somatic coaching that encompasses elements such as:

  • lived, embodied experiences of Black bodies;

  • inter-generational trauma;

  • ancestral trauma;

  • epigenetic trauma;

  • systemic discrimination and oppression;

  • White body supremacy and white privilege;

  • Understanding colonialism and its impact on Black and white bodies.

Due to its historical, cultural and systemic nature, this type of trauma is seen to be ongoing (with continual exposure and re-traumatisation), and experienced on both an individual and collective level.

Working through racial trauma and race-based grief requires validating experiences, unlearning colonial systems of oppression, and fostering settling and healing practices – in safe, trusting spaces – specifically designed for Black bodies.

Grief. This is a combination of conflicting emotions and feelings ignited by a change in a familiar pattern of behaviour or the end of way of life. When we lose something or someone that holds great significance to us, we grieve.

This could be the loss of a loved one, job, your business, a romantic break-up, a family betrayal; even loss of self i.e. feeling like you don’t know who you really are.

We experience conflicting emotions – such as anger, sadness, relief, pain, abandonment, guilt, shame etc. – when a pattern or behaviour comes to an end – often suddenly.

Coaching Package

Healing takes time; it seldom happens in an instant. Navigating your grief and trauma journey requires patience, persistence and commitment.

I now only take on a small number of private clients every year and review interest to work with me quarterly.

A great deal of our healing is solitary. A great deal of our healing is also relational. One of the keys to a successful coaching partnership is the strength and health of the client-coach relationship.

I take considered care in creating the right conditions for a highly resonant and personalised experience for all my clients. This means ensuring:

  • client-coach attunement i.e. nurturing a harmonious relationship;

  • My skills, knowledge and experience are at a competent level to support you.

If either of us feel that we’re not an ideal match, I will signpost you to other resources and organisations, or someone who may be better suited to support you.

I typically work with clients on a short to medium term basis – between 6 weeks to 6 months – depending on their chosen package, renewals etc.. Our time together can be extended if you feel you want more sessions.

Each of my coaching sessions lasts a duration of either 1 or 2 hours. As standard, for the client’s consistency, stability, and momentum, our sessions will take place weekly.

What you’ll get

  • Tailored coaching sessions with a blend of psycho-education;

  • Resources and practical tools, including a coaching guidebook;

  • Pre- and post-session work (where appropriate);

  • Email support in-between sessions.

By the end of our coaching engagement some things you will have learned include:

  • Psychological and psycho-somatic education related to grief and trauma;

  • How to identify, describe, ‘be with’ and process your feelings, thoughts, and sensations;

  • Somatic techniques and tools for self-regulation and inner-resourcing.

By the end of our coaching engagement, some things you will have identified include:

  • Your core wounds and how they show up for you today;

  • Your core needs, and master how to to get those needs met by yourself and others;

  • How adaptive and maladaptive behaviours show up for you every day, and make a shift towards healthier, empowered choices;

  • The subconscious and implicit beliefs holding you back and how to re-write and challenge them;

  • Unhelpful mental scripts and thoughts, and grasp how to interrupt and reframe them;

  • A map of your somatic landscape and imprints: how your experiences have impacted your physiology, digestive and nervous systems, breath, voice, movement etc. We’ll work together to design a plan to create incremental but powerful shifts.

Coaching Fees

A healthy relationship is built on trust and I start as I mean to go on; that includes transparency with my fees.

As a prospective client, I appreciate how much time it takes to find a suitable coach, so I want to ensure you have all the information you need to make an informed decision as to whether coaching with me is right for you.

Coaching is an investment in yourself and your future. You may not be looking to make that investment right now. You might be doing some some research, so having a price-point may be useful for when you’re ready.

I now offer 2 package options:

PACKAGE 1: This 6-session coaching package – completed over a period of 6 weeks – is a £900 investment in yourself. With this package, I offer a 2-instalment payment plan (2 instalments of £450) to help make the cost more financially manageable for you.

PACKAGE 2: This 12-session coaching package – completed over a period of 12 weeks – is a £1,500 investment in yourself. With this package, I offer a 3-instalment payment plan (3 instalments of £500) to help make the cost more financially manageable for you.

If funding is a concern, it might be worth speaking to your manager or HR department about sponsoring your personal coaching (in full or partially) as part of their Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) – see here. You may also want to consider my other offerings such as the 30 Days Through Grief and Healing journaling series, or my Grief and Loss Guide.

I accept payment via bank transfer, debit card, credit card, PayPal, and direct debit. All card payments are processed securely online.

Please note that rbccmnq is a VAT registered company; prices are inclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise.

  2. If your personal coaching is being funded by a business, business rates may apply, depending on the scope of work.

  3. I no longer provide coaching – business or personal – to fellow mental health practitioners (coaches, therapists, counsellors etc.). I am, however, available to provide coaching supervision.

Would you like to express an interest in working together?

To ensure I’m able to give all my clients the care and attention they deserve, I only take on a small number of private clients a year and review interest to work with me quarterly.

I’m now fully booked for the majority of 2024 (January through to September). If you’re serious about working together, please get in touch now to secure your sessions.

Once you submit your responses, I’ll be in touch within a week. If the support you’re seeking is aligned with what I can help you with,  we’ll look to set up a 90-minute chemistry call which is divided into two parts:

  • 30-minute consultation where you’ll have an opportunity to discuss all-things coaching e.g. the styles of coaching I practice; how I work; clarify information, share any concerns etc.

  • 60-minute coaching session where you’ll gain value in the form of insights and clarity about your situation, as well as get an initial sense of what interacting with me feels like for you.

By the end of our chemistry meeting, you'll have a deeper sense as to whether I’m a suitable coach for you (chemistry-wise, as well as expertise).

I charge a one-off fee of £150 for the 90-minute chemistry meeting, and there’s absolutely no obligation for you to book coaching with me thereafter.

This is a compulsory stage to work together in order to give you peace of mind that coaching with me is the right choice for you, and to set your expectations.

Before getting in touch, please ensure you can confidently answer ‘yes’ to these 3 questions:

  1. Does Rebecca-Monique’s offering, expertise, and style of coaching align with what I’m looking for?

  2. Am I committed to creating the conditions (time, environment, dedication etc.) that will help me maximise my coaching experience?

  3. Is coaching with Rebecca-Monique financially viable for me now? i.e. Coaching will not put me under financial strain.

If you’ve answered ‘yes’ to all 3 questions, please summarise your responses in the contact form. We’ll go into detail during our call, so only share what you are comfortable with at this stage.
